CUSTOM FLAG AND CUSTOM BANNER FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ):

How long will a flag last?
• On an average, you will use 2-3 nylon flags per year if you fly your flag 24/7.
• It is recommended that you take any flag down for inclement weather.
• CAUTION: NEVER raise or lower a flag during inclement or windy weather. A flag acts as a sail; if you are raising or lowering your flag and a gust of wind comes up, you can be swept off your feet.

How can I prolong the life of my flags?
• Rotate your flags. At the first signs of wear, take down your flag and replace it with another (new or repaired).
• Have it repaired. For repair, send it to us ($3.00 per foot plus the cost of shipping) or check with your local seamstress or dry cleaner.

Is there a guarantee?
• There are many factors which affect the life of a flag, such as weather, exposure to the sun’s rays and pollution. Therefore there is no guarantee for wear.
• However, if you feel you have received a flag that has failed prematurely, we encourage you to contact us. We handle each situation on an individual basis. There have been occasions where the factory has received defective thread or bad inks from their suppliers, but we would not have known if our customers would not have informed us of their experience. Certainly, if there is a defect in the manufacturing of a flag, the flag is repaired or replaced.

How do I know what size flag to use?
Generally, the height of your flag pole determines what size flag you would use.
• One quarter (1/4) to one third (1/3) of the height of the flag pole would be the length of your flag.
• Therefore, a 20’ flagpole would fly a 3x5’ flag, but no larger than 4x6’.
• Most flagpole manufacturers use this formula when engineering their flag poles. This allows them to provide a flag poles strong enough to handle that square footage for the various wind loads throughout the country.

May I clean my flag?
• Flags made for outdoor use may be machine washed in cold water using a mild detergent.
• We recommend that they be hung to dry or put in a dryer at a low heat until dry—about 10 minutes.
• Although colorfast, we recommend that they are not left to soak as colors may run.
• They must be completely drying before storing.

How may I dispose of my flag?
• There are no recommended methods for disposal of corporate or custom flags.
• The preferred method of disposal of the American flag is by burning.
• Many veteran organizations will take your American flags for proper disposal.
• You may send your retired American flag to us. Representatives from the American Legion and VFW in our area regularly pick up retired American flags at our office.
